Bespoke joinery
Simon is a craftsman and cannot resist a challenge! Drop us a line and let’s discuss your project. If we can’t help you we may know someone who can and will be happy to make an introduction.
The dream is to start with a blank sheet of paper and design the perfect workspace, you know... the one you’ve been imagining since you first had to desk share or spend the day edging past your neighbours Brompton! In reality, needs change, so we design from the ground up when we can and retro fit based on space and materials when we can’t.
We recognise that everyone’s needs will be different from a practical and aesthetic perspective. We can create storage solutions including cabinets and shelving and we can work to maximise clear desk space so you can work in the way you want to work.
The two most common approaches are wifi extenders and armoured cable. Wifi extenders use plugs and power cabling to connect your garden workspace to your home wifi network. Success assumes short distances and a strong, reliable, wifi signal. A more robust option is to run armoured cable from the house to the workspace. Great for longer distances and where reliability has direct consequences on your business! Of course, there is the in dustrial option to commission a dedicated broadband connection for your garden workspace. Over the top for most people but a consideration for anyone working on ‘real time’ platforms or working with large files or specific security requirements. Connectivity is fundamental to the success of most workspace proj ect s and will be part of the initial discussions and site survey.
Bespoke workspaces
Typically, Mybridity use high quality 4' x 2' timbers at 400mm centers with 11mm sterling board externally and 12.5mm plasterboard internally which gives a strong structure and allows lots of fixing options. We can also add patrices to reinforce internal walls and support the design options that work for you such as large TV's, floating shelves, air conditioning units or creative storage.
Yes! Mybridity uses modern thermal insulation boards and although under floor heating is an option a small wall hung heater is plenty along with ventilation options so you are in control. These can be adapted to meet any specific needs or preferences.
Most clients ask for a simple plastered finish but we can work with your ideas to create an end result that is personal to you including wood panelling, timber cladding and wallpaper.
This all depends on your choice of finish: Cedral cladding comes with a 10 year guarantee so is effectively maintenance free, whereas real timber cladding ages naturally, and beautifully, but needs yearly maintenance to keep it looking as good as when it was installed. The choice is yours and we will advise on the pros and cons of each option.
There are a few topics that affect sound insulation including the amount, and type, of glass used in the design and the surrounding environment. We can offer Rockwool sound - reducing insulation (which reduces the transfer of sound to approximately - 45db) and there are some creative options available including a living roof that will further reduce sound pollution.
All windows and doors include 28mm sealed units with low - e glass. All doors have multi - locking mechanisms. We prefer to use high quality aluminium windows and doors supplied and fitted by accredited companies but we can use uPVC or timber options and make sure the end result meet.
Yes. There is a wide range of products available and we will work with you to make the best informed choices. The most common choices are for vinyl products, offering a comprehensive list of options, and wood or wood laminate.
Yes. Light and sound options will be a key topic in our initial discussions.
In the initial discussions we will advise what work should be done and how to do it. In some cases, the work will be included in the project scope and in others, typically where specialist skills are needed, we will help find the right people to speak to.
It depends on the sub base on which your workspace will sit. Generally, we use either large, galvanised, ground screws typically driven 1m into the ground or small concrete pads set at exact intervals to support your floor joists. We are also able to build straight onto existing patios or concrete slabs. We recommended the plan allows a 50 - 100cm open gap around the sides of your building, and any fencing or shrubs, to allow for maintenance and future care. These considerations can be discussed together on our site visit.
The project build can take as little as 2 weeks subject to the size and scope and, of course, the weather! Mybridity works with one client at a time allowing us to focus on the success of your project.
Subject to the initial survey and any related groundwork considerations, a frame can be built to create a stable level surface. Adding a workspace can make excellent creative use of land that would otherwise be barren.
The rules for garden buildings are captured under the terms of ‘permitted development’ which address topics such as height and scale. Most workspaces fall within planning rules, but Mybridity will work with you to identify where permissions would be needed. Here are two resources to guide you from the outset:
1. Government Planning Portal advice for outbuildings
2. Government advice on permitted development rights
Of course, each workspace project is different so, for peace of mind, we recommend you check with your local authority, especially if you are lucky enough to live in a National Park, a listed building or an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Yes, subject to scope and environmental considerations. We will discuss this as part of the project plan and agree the best approach.
Mybridity builds across Hampshire.
As you would expect, each garden office project is as individual as the person making the decisions! Bespoke projects are priced from the ground up and allow a wider range of sizes, doors, windows, materials, and additional options to make the finished building personal to you. We suggest a budget of around £30,000 (+VAT) for a regular bespoke project, subject to scope and surveys.
Growth consulting
Our projects typically come from a recognition that the business lacks time, specific skills or wants to support members of the team. A common scenario, especially in recent times, is for the pace of change to provoke new ‘exam questions’, and help is needed to address this alongside business as usual. The leadership team, or specific officers will usually be the ‘customer’ and we will be creating a baseline for change, supporting change or helping to define and pull specific performance levers.
We will work together to define challenges and objectives before agreeing target outcomes, timeframes and the engagement model.
Whether we have or have not worked in your specific industry our proposition will not revolve on industry knowledge. Our experience is built around people, processes, beliefs and behaviours which are common to successful people, teams and businesses. We will work together with you to adapt language and appropriate references sufficient to engage different roles and preferences across the business.
Remote sales for beginners
There are people better qualified to help you with this and we would be happy to introduce you to those we know, or you could probably find a YouTube tutorial. We are focused on the leadership of field sales teams and the processes, behaviours and workspaces that make their human engagements more productive.
Yes, we can help. We are certified coaches and have built and delivered numerous coaching programmes both independently and in collaboration with our friends at Transform Performance. Let’s discuss the challenges in front of you and the target outcomes.
Welcome! You could have chosen greater commercial responsibility, perhaps had it thrust upon you, or, if you are leading your own business, you may simply have realised that we are all in sales now! We can help you understand the role, processes, KPIs, engagement models and hints and tips to get you on your way or help you sharpen your saw and move to the next level.
Remote sales management
Typically, there are three paths a project follows. 1: Where the project is bridging to a new hire, we would support a hand over period. 2: Most projects include some element of sales planning and that will be a living initiative, most likely with a documented execution plan. 3: Finally, if both parties agree, the project may lead further initiatives to support the continued growth of the business. In all cases we work to ensure the benefits from the investment outlive the project itself.
Building on your initial view of what’s needed, a brief is designed to described target outcomes and the time to be invested. The brief could be straight forward or there may be enough complexity to warrant a discovery exercise to make the definition of any engagement clearer and more realistic.
Scenarios include early-stage businesses who are not ready to attract and retain the right calibre of hire, cover for unexpected events, planned events with no immediate alternative, or support for discreet initiatives that are not mature enough to warrant a full-time hire. An experienced interim, or fractional sales manager, can help calm the waters and ensure the fundamentals are working while contributing to decisions about the best next steps for the business.
Sales effectiveness mapping
There are commonly two deliverables. We will document and present our findings and recommendations. We will also host a workshop to debate priorities and build out an action plan to effect change. The meaning of ‘change’ will be specific to each project, but expectations will be aligned.
Improving sales performance is rarely that simple! Experience tells us there are greater gains to made by looking holistically at the ‘sales engine’ and understanding the tools, processes and behaviours that drive repeatable success. Where we agree that hiring new talent is part of a plan, we can work with you to build out recruitment and induction processes, we can support retention plans, and introduce you to professional recruiters we trust.
Each business is different and we will be the first to tell you whether we see things the same way. What we typically find is that skills on their own are not what is missing. Our customers are often deeply knowledgeable founders who are hired to solve problems they understand or add customers they recognise. The skills, processes, beliefs and behaviours of successful teams, particularly in sales, can be seen to be consistent and there is value in benchmarking against a range of exemplars to find the ‘best fit’ practice.
Over the course of many engagements Mybridity has development a template to capture and organise the key pillars of an effective sales engine. The weighting of the pillars may vary across projects, but they are always relevant. We’ve grown to understand how the pillars fit together and what an effective sales engine should look like. Through a discovery process we objectively map the status of these pillars and provoke debate about where and how improvements could be realised.
Technical services
The service level agreements for relevantservices will be put in place by the service providers.
Mybridity partners with local providers who are dedicated to technical support. We will use them to clarify options for the best connectivity to your planned workspace and they will engage directly to provide remote technical support, comms services, AV solutions, hardware and security solutions for people and businesses working remotely.
Over the top for most people but a consideration for anyone working on ‘real time’ platforms or working with large files or specific security requirements. Connectivity is fundamental to the success of most workspace proj ect s and will be part of the initial discussions and site survey.
Workspace refurbishment
Storage is often the unglamorous part of the garden office discussion. In some cases, external storage space gets replaced by a workspace or needs change and more storage becomes a necessity. It is feasible to extend an existing installation but there are aesthetic and practical considerations. Drop Simon a note and he can help you work out the best options.
It’s worth a discussion. Products have advanced significantly in recent years and, depending on the condition of the core infrastructure, aesthetic improvements are feasible. Drop us a line and let’s discuss your ideas and together we’ll work out what investment is worth making.
